Northeast New Jersey Legal Services (NNJLS) provides free legal representation to eligible low-income, disabled, and senior residents of Bergen, Hudson and Passaic Counties. It doesn’t have to be April to think about your taxes. Throughout the year, Northeast New Jersey Legal Services Low-income Tax Payer Clinic (LITC) staff and volunteers provide legal assistance with federal tax issues for residents of Hudson, Passaic, and Bergen Counties. Since the inception of the program, NNJLS staff attorneys and volunteers have helped numerous clients with a variety of tax issues such as identity theft, setting up payment plans with the IRS, refund errors, tax levies and collections, disputes about tax returns, and more. NNJLS Employment Opportunity Legal Assistance Project
Despite strong skills, good references, and a solid work history, “Alan” was having trouble finding a job. The reason? A minor drug offense dating back to the 1990s. Alan has had no other run-ins with the law in the past two decades, directing his efforts instead to rebuilding his life, raising his children, and working to support his family. Yet that one minor offense continued to haunt his job search. When a major company cited his record as the sole reason they couldn’t hire him, Alan turned to Northeast New Jersey Legal Services for help.
