NNJLS provides no-cost legal help to seal (clear) certain criminal records.

 

We can help with the following:

 

• sealing dismissed cases

• sealing convictions, provided that the number of convictions is limited, and years have passed since the conviction

• sealing a group of convictions (“clean sweep”) if more than ten years have passed since the end of all punishment

The expungement law is technical. After we see your record, we can advise if you are eligible for expungement. Then a petition is filed with the court to remove the records from public view.

 

Sealing your record may help you get a job or an occupational license.
